In this verse the Lord Jesus Christ explains to the apostle Thomas the one and only way for anyone to get to heaven. There is nothing else that man can do but put his trust in the Lord Jesus. It is not through good works, church attendance or 'doing your best' that you can find favour with God. in this verse He describes himself as three things of which he is the only true one:

The Way

There is no other way  by which we can approach God but by the precious shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 2:5 says that 'there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus'. Any other way, the Bible tells us, will lead to destruction. It is only by the way of the cross where Christ dies, the just for the unjust that we can get to heaven. Would you not come to that cross and put your trust in him and start on that journey now? Tomorrow may be too late to think about it. Life is a journey with one of two destinations at the end of it, heaven or hell. Your must make your choice on which way you go. Christ is the only way to heaven, repent of your sins and put your trust in him.

The Truth

There are many religions in this world, all of which claim that they have the truth. The truth is only to be found in God's Holy Word. John 8:32 tells us that 'ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free'. It is no use putting ur hope in Mohammed or Buddha or any other religion. They will teach that works will save you but the Bible says that only repentance of your sins and putting your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Life

There is none of us who can say that we have lived a perfect life. We have all sinned and broken the law of God as we read that 'all have sinned and come short of the glory of God'. No matter how hard we try our lives will never measure up to the standard which God has set. Although we do not deserve it God loved us so much that he sent His son to die for us, to live that perfect life which we could never live and to die that perfect death which atoned for our sins. By giving his life ours Jesus has saved our eternal souls if we would only accept Him as our saviour.
