If not, then the person was 'cut off' v29,30
The term 'atonement' means 'to cover'.
HOW THE JEWS KEEP IT TODAY
They have no temple and no High Priest therefore no
sacrifices however one sect of Jews kill a hen.
It is a day of weeping and fasting but the Jews look to 'good
works' to atone for their sins
PROPHETIC ASPECT
Israel - Zech 12:9, 10; 13:1 cp romans 11:25-27
Church - On the Judgment Day the Church will be
presented spotless Eph 5:27. Both only on the basis of
the sacrifice of Calvary.

THE RIGHT TO DO IT

Only after washing v4, taking off his beautiful
garments, putting on linen v4 and making personal
sacrifice v6
Christ left the robes of glory. But in contrast He is
already pure Heb 7:25-28. He had a prepared body Heb
10:5
THE REQUIREMENT FOR IT
The High Priest must go in by the blood of the sacrifice

Christ entered by His own blood - Heb 9:12
THE RULES CONNECTED WITH IT
The High Priest sprinkled the blood upon the Mercy Seat

His hands were placed upon the live goat that was sent

The first goats remains were burnt outside the camp Lev

He put on his robes again - Lev 16:23,24; Heb 2:9

Through the blood of Christ we can now enter into God's presence
and our bodies can be His dwelling place - 1 Cor 6:19,20
